Title1b: LN Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro DSLR Camera 6.2MP 12.1 Nice

Title2: Like New Tamron AF 28-300mm Lens NIKON mount AF LD IF NICE!!!

*** Here is the 3/4/2009 update:

I have a nice Fujifilm user manual and the user manual for the lens, and those will be included with whichever auction is appropriate.

The software disk has not been found, thus it will not be included. Photo of the manuals are here:

**** End of 3/4/2009 update ...

If you’ve read any of my previous sales you know I strive for great detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in anything I sell. I want you to know exactly what you are buying and what condition it is in before you buy and before it arrives, and doing so keep a 100% positive feedback rating. Here is the full story behind this camera & lens.

My buddy Jim bought both to take pictures of his family at various events back in 2003. He used it for a bit and in early 2004 the unit stopped taking pictures. The menus would work fine but when you took a picture the image was completely black. Frustrated at this turn of events and distracted by other life events, the camera sat in the camera bag in the closet since that fateful day in 2004.

Zoom forward 4 years -- in early April 2008, he brought it over to his favorite computer geek & photographer friend (ME!) thinking I could fix it. After briefly looking over the camera, taking a few pictures with it that were all black, I jumped online and started researching. Sure enough, this camera and many others that used a particular Sony CCD imaging chip had problems with the glue not holding the imaging chip to the camera and the Black Screen of Death was the result. So I boxed it back up, sent it back to Fujifilm, they replaced the chip, cleaned the camera, and sent it back for no charge.

Kudos to FujiFilm!

He got it back and barely used it a little over the last year. He picked it up from me in late May 2008 and I looked – he only has one CF card and the pictures on that card are dated 6/30/08 through 8/16/08 for whole 94 pictures. I took test shots on 2/15 & 2/16/2009 to check it out and give some examples, so you can see he hardly uses the camera. I think he has decided a smaller point and shoot is more his style. So he brought the camera back to his favorite computer geek & photographer friend and asked me to sell it for him. Since he only owns one lens, it stays on the camera and thus this sensor is very clean. I took a test shot and saw one or two specs of dust but stopped short of cleaning as I let the pros at the camera store do that for me.

---------

3/2/2009: UPDATE ON THE SENSOR AND DUST --

After two inquiries, I did some research and found how to lock the shutter open and did a bit of dry air blowing, the results are a pretty darn clean sensor. Feel free to download this full size JPG image and pixel peep:

A picture taken of a white piece of paper, small aperture, showing the sensor AFTER a dry air blow cleaning.

You can find a document on how to lock the shutter open here:

http://www.photosol.com/s2_clean_ccd.pdf

ANOTHER UPDATE: Jim says he found the owner's manual. So I'm tentatively saying it is included -- I'll say for sure once it is in my hands!
But I found the owner's manual in PDF form here:

http://www.sensorcleaning.com/manuals/Fuji_S2_Pro_CM.pdf

-----

So what does all this verbage mean? This is probably the lowest mileage, cleanest, and considering the recent imaging unit replacement is as new as you are going to find a camera for the price short of finding one still boxed on a dealer’s shelf. And then, even if it was on the dealer’s shelf, it is likely to have its sensor fall off due to defective glue! So in some ways, this is better than any other new / used unit out there. You can read a very detailed review along with all the specifications on this camera here:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/s2.html

I took a few photos with this camera and some nice glass in front of it and for a 2002-design camera it is still takes phenomenal images.

Here is a feature list from Fuji:

Features

•  2nd Generation, Super CCD, SLR type Professional Body Digital Camera
•  6.17 million sensor array Super CCD Produces 12.1 Million (4256x2848) recorded pixels or choice of (3024x2016), (2304x1536) and (1440x960) pixels.
•  Improved ISO sensitivity ratings; 100, 160, 200, 400, 800, 1600
•  Dual Slots for SmartMedia and IBM Microdrive (inserted into CompactFlash slot)
•  CCD-RAW, JPEG, TIFF-RGB and TIFF-YC recording modes
•  Voice memo audio Recording Mode
•  Works with Nikon F mount lens, accepts majority of Nikkor AF lenses including AF-S and AF-VR lenses
•  Support for external flash
•  Continuous shooting; 2 frames per second, up to 7 frames
•  Firewire IEEE1394 and USB 1.1 Dual interface

Now, lets talk about the lens … The exact text written on the lens is as follows:

Tamron AF Aspherical XR LD [IF] 28-300mm 1:3.5-6.3 Macro 62mm filter (the symbol, not the letters)

The closest lens I can find to this one is the Tamron Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical IF Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF-D from BH Photo Video, price is $349.95 new.

The only similar lens as listed at BH has “Di” in the text whereas this lens doesn’t have that designation. According to Tamron, the Di denotes a Digital Only lens. I don't know if that is just a marketing blurb or what.

I did some tests with the lens and found it a nice walk-around lens from 28-200mm and soft from 200-300mm. Now, my frame of reference are some of the sharpest Canon L zoom and prime lenses, not one of which costs less than twice this lens, so perhaps I’m being a little critical. But that is my opinion. But in all fairness, it is a 10x optical zoom (28-300mm) and only costs $350 new, so the design is going to sacrifice somewhere. The glass is clean, scratch-free, and there is no fungus. The lens will come with the Tamron lens hood designed for this lens.

The text here talks about both camera and lens because I know this camera will take better images with better glass in front of it. Plus, all the sample images you will see were taken with this combination. I would show what the camera can really do except all I own are Canon lenses.

All that said, there are two separate auctions – one for the camera and its associated accessories, and one for the lens & lens hood. ** If you buy both the camera and lens and have them shipped to the same address, the shipping charges for the lens will be dropped to $0.00 **

There are > 30 images of the camera, lens, and images taken with the combination at:

http://dascc.com/ebay

If you are even remotely interested in either camera, lens, or both I urge you to look at the condition these are in before bidding on any other camera or lens!

Continental USA shipping only. Bidders with < 10 feedback or < 98% positive feedback contact me first before bidding.

The camera comes with the body, body cap, box, AC Adapter, Lithium batteries, AA batteries, neck strap, and a USB Cable. There we other items included with the camera that if Jim can locate he'll send to me and those will be included as well, but for now assume that you'll get what was listed here.

The lens comes with a front and rear cap and the lens hood.

Again -- there are two separate auctions both described as one here as information about one relates to the other especially where the sample images are concerned.

Each auction is for one or the other item based on the title of the auction!

Please ask any questions you might have and happy bidding!

Supplemental information:

The pictures of the camera and lens were taken with Canon equipment.

The pictures outside of the trees and sign in the park along with the pictures of the roses were taken with the Fuji camera and Tamron lens combination.

The following are a whole bunch of pictures so you can see exactly what you are buying. Click on any thumbnail to call up a full-sized image. Following the camera and lens images are images taken with this camera on 2/16/2009.

Camera from various angles with the lens mounted (sorry about the angle - my tripod was a bit tilted):

Inside the lens mount:

The Tamron lens itself:

When zoomed, the lens is quite long. Again, the tilt is due to my tripod and camera angle:

A 360 degree view around the lens

With the aperture held open and left closed

And now, for something completely different -- some actual JPG images straight off the camera with no processing, trimming, or corrections applied whatsoever. I'd love to have taken a series of beautiful images, but this is Michigan in the middle of February, so I was lucky to not see dirty snow and cloudy skies. I went to a local park and shot some outside shots standing in the same spot and zooming into / zooming out of the same scene so you can see just how much reach that 28-300mm zoom lens gives you.

Plus, I shot some flowers that my lovely wife got from me for Valentines day. That is the closest I could come up with for "Something colorful"

These park shots were all hand-held standing on the same spot. The first one shows the whole park at 28mm, then I start zooming into the sign. Again, this is all the lens zooming and not my walking any closer to the sign! I would have setup the tripod and probably gotten better shots, but it was in the 20s, windy, and I was freezing so it was run out, snap snap snap, and back into the car.

They are at 28mm, 70mm, 205mm, and 300mm (exif data said 299mm, but I rounded up)

Then the far trees, then I zoomed into one of those far trees:

28mm, 70mm, and 300mm (again, exif data said 299mm)

And something a bit more colorful:

1/250 sec, f/8, 35mm zoom, ISO-100. I was about 3' away from the flowers.

1/250 sec, f/6, 183mm zoom, ISO-100. Nice background blur, flower's center lower petals are what I focused on.

So there you have it!

Good luck and happy bidding!

--------------------------

Up for sale today is a Sharp SharpVision XV-H37U home theatre projector.

The full history on this unit is unknown. It came with the house we bought two years ago and was installed by a professional AV company in a family room with a motorized screen, full surround sound, etc. This must have been years ago as the unit's mfg. date is listed as 'July 1996' on a plate on the back of the unit. It made a nice 100" diagonal picture 16' back in a dark room. I don't know or have access to any other specs on the unit. The photo shows the unit as mounted upside down on the ceiling with its attached bracket. Settings inside the projector allow the unit to stand on a table top or hang inverted.

Two weeks ago the bulb burned -- or at least the projector went dark and the 'bulb' light turned on, which I assume means the bulb burned out. We've decided to replace the unit with something newer.

The projector worked fine and when last operating had three visual defects -- two vertical blue lines on the top right quadrant from the top of the screen down about 1/4 of the way and the other extended down about 1/16th of the way. There was also a ~3 pixel wide yellow line, but I can't remember where that was. I'd take a picture to show the defects, placement, and size except that would involve buying a new bulb.

Unit has an S-Video input, two RCA inputs for Left & Right audio as well as video inputs, adjustments to shift the image up / down, etc. There is also a 12V output which triggers the screen to deploy down when the unit powers on, and raise it when the unit powers off.

The unit is heavy -- I'm guessing 35-40 pounds. It is also large -- 19"x20"x7". The auction is for the whole unit, so the shipping I've guessed at will include packing and insurance by the local UPS store. They'll only ship electronics either in the original packaging or their own if it is to be insured, so that cost is included as well in the shipping charges. They'll probably double-box it which will make it into a rather large box. In the past, shipping a server that was about that size it cost $350, but that was overnight. So again, the packing / shipping is a guesstimate. ** Continental USA Only! ** (unless you want just a part out of the unit, then we should talk)

** THE ACTUAL SHIPPING / PACKING / INSURANCE IS WHAT YOU WILL EVENTUALLY PAY, NOT THE $120 CHARGED BELOW **

After the unit leaves my posession, I will refund the difference between what you paid and what the UPS packing / shipping / delivery / insurance charges are.

Local pickup is free.

If you only want a part or two out of the unit, that will be considerably less to ship. I'm a computer geek and a EE, so am very capable of disassembling and removing any component(s) you might need if you are looking for parts for your unit.

The auction is for the projector only, not the mounting bracket or any other associated parts. We use a universal remote to control the projector. If I can find the manual, it will be included -- if not, then it won't. The unit is sold as-is. The only warranty is that when you plug it in, the LAMP light will illuminate, which is the condition the unit was in two weeks ago.

I'll try to get some more photos of this unit and will post them at:

http://dascc.com/eBay

If you have any questions, please ask! I believe in knowing what you are buying beforehand so nobody is surprised when the item is delivered.

UPDATE: I have found the manual, so that will be included with the projector. Or it will be included if you just wanted a part or two out of the projector!

Seagate Medalist ST-39140W 9.1 GB Hard Drives 3.5" SCSI

68 Pin, removed from upgraded equipment, tested and 100% functional with no bad sectors detected.

Purchased for a client system in 1998, upgraded in 2000, and sat on the shelf until recently when powered

back up, tested, and put up for sale.

IBM UltraStar 68 Pin Ultra3 SCSI LVD/SE hard drive

36.9 GB

7200 RPM

3.5"

Fully tested with no bad OS visible blocks. Hitachi bought IBM's hard drive business years ago, so now

Hitachi's website has their technical info and specs.

Purchased for a client's system back in 2001 (date code on drives is Nov.2000 and Dec.2000 respectively).

System was upgraded in 2003 or 2004, these sat on the shelf since then.

Taken off the shelf and tested prior to putting up for sale. And both drives test completely good with the

manufacturer's test program (see the last screen shot). I then striped them and copied a bunch of stuff to the

drives and verified the data copied 100% accurate. So I'm confident these will work once they arrive.

There are more detailed photos posted at:

http://dascc.com/eBay

Each bid is for ONE hard drive. I can ship multiple drives in the same box for a significant discount on the shipping charges.

There are two drives available.

Cleaning and verifying the disk sectors on both disks. Both came up with the green "All OK" screen.

IBM OEM DPES-30540  p/n 84G9476, COMPAQ 148286-001, 45045 540MB 3.5"

Hard drive pulled from a Compaq desktop system years ago and was working then.

Recently put back into a system and still spins, reads / writes completely fine without needing

a low level format.

Interface is SCSI, 50 pin connector as pictured. Jumpers on the bottom allow setting ID, termination, and other

settings per the label on top.

Seagate Barracuda ST39173N 50 Pin SCSI 9.1GB 3.5"

Drive came out of a SPARC system ~5 years ago and was functional then. Has sat on the shelf ever since.

I powered it up, partitioned it in Windows, copied a whole pile of stuff to it and verified the copy worked.

I have not low-level formatted or surface scanned it. When Win2K full-formatted the drive, it came back

with 0 bad blocks (not the quick format, but the format that checks every block for errors).

Interface is SCSI, 50 pin connector as pictured. Jumpers on the bottom allow setting ID, termination, and other

Up for sale: Gigabyte GA-7ZX motherboard w/CPU and Fan.

Rev. 1.01 of the board, ** THESE UNITS HAVE THE ISA SLOT AND AUDIO ON-BOARD **

Boards were pulled from customer machines that were upgraded with new MB/CPU/RAM. All were working when pulled.

Most have at least a Duron 700 MHz or 750 MHz CPU, a couple have Athlon 1 GHz CPUs. The heatsink and fans are

a little dusty, but still spin and don't make the noise of a fan about to die. Like I said, they were all pulled from fully

functional machines. CPUs were AMD Boxed, so the fan / heatsink are as shipped in the AMD Boxed CPU product.

I still run three of these on my own network, and they are like that energizer bunny -- just keep going and going and going.

With the latest BIOS, you can run > 137 GB drives. These might not have the latest BIOS, but you can download it from:

http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=1371

There are more detailed photos and possibly some updated information posted here:

http://dascc.com/eBay

** BONUS: If the sale price for this board before s/h costs goes above $35, I will include one PC133 128MB SDRAM

DIMM memory chip as a FREE BONUS!

Each bid is for ONE motherboard, ONE CPU, and ONE CPU fan. If you'd like multiples, I can give a shipping discount

on subsequent units that I can pack / ship in the same box.

Photos of one of the actual boards are here:

I also have one brand new board still in the original box, purchased as a spare that was never needed.

That's how reliable these systems have been!

>IF< your bid is for the 'new in box' board, this is the box the board comes in. All of them came in a box

like this, but the used board's boxes were not saved.

>IF< your bid is for the new in box board, you WILL NOT get the CPU, CPU Fan, or associated dust on

the CPU fan. The board is new and sealed in its original static bag. The board is like the used ones in that

it does have on-board audio and the ISA slot -- not all models had both those features.
